A porcelain paver is about 20mm thick and a regular tile is 7, 8 or 9mm thick in most cases. Porcelain pavers are good for patios, sand projects, and direct-to-earth contact. Please check online with the various manufactures on porcelain pavers.
Please keep in mind, most porcelain tiles can be used outdoors if setting the tile in mortar. You do not have to exclusively use paver tiles for outdoor projects. Most regular porcelain tiles are rated for outdoor use.
